The Evolution of the Butterfly

Renowned cellular biologist, Dr. Bruce Lipton narrates the process of a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly over a milieu of imagery in "The Evolution of the Butterfly". The film combines first hand footage from the Occupy Wall Street movement with stylized portraits of the recent economic collapse and gives a backdrop of hope to sometimes bleak reality.

The JOBS Act Is A Fraud-Enhancing Gift To Wall Street Criminals

By William K. Black, Henry N. Pontell, Gilbert Geis, Janet Tavakoli, Barry Ritholtz & Lynn A. Stout
As white-collar criminologists (and a former financial regulator and enforcement head) and experts in ferreting out sophisticated financial frauds, our careers and research focus on financial fraud by the world’s most elite private sector criminals and their political cronies. Therefore, we write to thank Congress and the President for preparing to adopt a JOBS Act that will provide us with job security for life.

Greedy Bastards Antidote: Lawrence Lessig on “One Way Forward”

In a discussion on money, politics, and the growth of organic political reform movements in America over the last few years, Dylan Ratigan talks with Lawrence Lessig about his new book, One Way Forward: An Outsiders Guide to Fixing the Republic.

You can read Lessig's book here.

Obama’s Lobbying Ban Leads To More Corruption

When Republic Report launched Sell Out Of The Week, our initial winner was President Obama, who earned the prize for embracing his super PAC, essentially endorsing unlimited corporate cash invading the democratic process, after having failed to take some critical steps to clean up the system. We’ve chosen him again this week, but for a different money in politics offense.

Obama campaigned on a promise of reform and transparency, pledging as a candidate that lobbyists “will not run my White House… and will not drown out the voices of the American people.” But three years into his presidency, Obama’s lobby reform is broken. The rules once seen as revolutionary are counterproductive, meaningless, and frankly ridiculous.

This Is NOT What Democracy Looks Like! Criminalizing First Amendment Rights

If laws like the new Trespass Bill (HR 347) had been in effect during the Civil Rights movement, there would have been no March on Washington. Martin Luther King Jr. and his fellow activists would have been rendered criminals. And King's call for "militant nonviolent resistance" would have been silenced by police in riot gear.

Wall Street Whistleblowers Get the Silent Treatment From Washington

What’s worse: to be persecuted and indicted for trying to expose an act of wrongdoing -- or to be ignored for doing so? The Obama administration has set a record by accusing no fewer than six government employees, who allegedly leaked classified information to reporters, of violating the Espionage Act, a draconian law dating back to 1917. Yet when it comes to workers who have risked their careers to expose misconduct in the corporate and financial arena, the government has often left whistleblowers feeling isolated and discouraged.

As it started to rain, peaceful protesters at Liberty Park put up some tarps to protect video equipment. The NYPD used this an excuse to violently attack the protest camp and make several arrests. As the crowd chanted “the whole world is watching,” the police came in and brutally threw several protesters to the ground. One of them had a tooth knocked out. Thus far several other injuries have been reported.

Here is a video of the incident:

Lets face it. US has become a police state. After Patriot Act and the massive Homeland Security US is not a free country anymore. You protest at your own risk. You can get arrested at anytime without any reason and get locked up without any right to self defense.

Are those “peaceful protesters” leftists? You know, leftists: Aggressive, violence-loving people who crave to establish socialistic governments with the usual features, e.g. single party despotism, corrective work camps, and murder.

Say, are those self-rightous, “peaceful protesters” really just malevolent, run-of-the-mill turds who expect cops to do the turds’ dirty work of imposing socialistic peace and social[istic] justice? After all, every socialistic government needs cops to impose the rulers’ will.

Poor, poor lefties. So unjustly manipulated. Poor little turds.

Yes Wall Street definitely needs important changes implemented so that we the middle class will stop losing our money that’s supposed to last for us until the end.  I do not believe this is a “police state”.  I do not believe that the majority of officers are sadists; that’s just plain ignorance.  I did not like what I saw in the video.  It was chaotic and hard to tell what the protesters were doing to cause the police action.  You could tell they were all resisting arrest calling for harsher methods by police.  However, there is no excuse for too tight handcuffs and any other measures taken above and beyond the proper way to make an arrest .  The officers need to be investigated and any causing undue harm should be suspended and lose their pay. The courts will work it all out eventually.

“A Progressive revolution” would be a communistic revolution, i.e. a socialistic revolution. It’s also an incoherent phrase. Progressivism is like Fabianism. It seeks to establish a socialistic paradise though a series of many small steps, not the radical lurch of a revolution. (Al Nava did know this, right?) Of course, Progressivism is inherently aggressive and violent. Without aggression and violence, Progressivism is a dead letter.

Sure enough, Progressives play peacenik when protesting. (Muslims, too, know how to play this game.) But once they acquire political power, out come their weapons, which are really just the weapons of cops and soldiers, favorite tools of Progressives. So a Progressive’s objection to the cops’ behavior in NYC is that the cops haven’t been doing enough of the bidding of Progressives.

Unfortunately, a “Progressive revolution”, if successful, would yield another socialistic despotism, as already suggested. So, Progressives don’t need a revolt. Instead, they need justice, as does everyone else. Let there be justice for progressives. Let them be beaten, battered, and bruised by their own favorite tools, cops and soldiers.

It’s by the way that “Wall Street & their elected political puppets” are the beneficiaries of commerce rigged by…wait for it…that old troublemaker…government. In fact, I think it not unfair to pin many of the world’s problems on Progressives, busybodies who refuse to let government be weakened so that it can no longer cause so many problems.
