BONUS TRACK: The Importance of Iran, to Iran
Ed note: To put Iran in perspective, the little tiny island of Japan was a bloody empire in the world fewer than 100 years ago. If Russia and China chose, they could crush Iran overnight, but they would have to have a reason to. Iran is neither a threat to Russia or China. With the Chinese and Russians as Iranian allies, the United States is powerless to affect regime change in Iran, or to effectively shut down Iran’s nuclear (weapons) program if they had one, while the little tiny military outpost of Israel that is plopped down smack dab in the middle of Palestine, is armed with nuclear weapons and it is militarily subsidized by elements of the United States government; namely the US Treasury and the Pentagon, via defense contractor and pro-Israel lobbyists and givers of baksheesh (bribery) to susceptible members of the US Congress. All things being equal, nobody wants war with Iran. But things aren’t equal when defense contractor and pro-Israel lobbyists tilt toward war, and they want to take We the People with them – same as how we got into PNAC’s Cheney-Bush White House (neocon) war on Iraq.
The ordinary Iranians have problems; with the clerics and their distorted and compulsive rules supposedly based on al-Qur’an or al-Sharia; with the incredibly corrupt bureaucrats in every city hall throughout the country, and with a Nicolae Ceaușescu-like IRGC – no different than the Shah’s CIA-trained and dreaded SAVAK, or the 1930s German-Italian ”trains on-time” brown-shirts or SS and Nazi-like system of governance adopted by Saddam’s Iraqi Baath party, same as in Syria under the father and son Assad regimes, and now since the death of Imam Khomeini, the IRGC.
Remembering the 1952 overthrow of Mossadeq, the ordinary Iranian people will put aside all of their differences with all of the above if they think for a minute the US or the UK and Israel are a threaten their already strained lives.
