Industry and multi-national corporations exert their influence on Washington by spending hundreds of millions of dollars each year on lobbying and campaign contributions. They dangle the promise of high-paying jobs to members of Congress, federal agency officials and their staffs. They give lucrative bonuses to employees who leave for high-ranking government jobs.

While much criticism has been lobbed at the federal system for failing to adequately identify who is spending money to influence campaigns, 35 states have independent spending disclosure laws that are less stringent than federal election law.
In fact, in 30 states it’s impossible to total how much money outside groups are spending on campaigns, information that is mostly available when it comes to federal contests.

News Discussion: 1 day, 14 hours ago · ViewRound the Clock Surveillance: Is This the Price of Living in a ‘Free, Safe’ Society?
Read MoreImmediately following the devastating 9/11 attacks, which destroyed the illusion of invulnerability which had defined American society since the end of the Cold War, many Americans willingly ceded their rights and liberties to government officials who promised them that the feeling of absolute safety could be restored.
In the 12 years since, we have been subjected to a series of deceptions, subterfuges and scare tactics by the government, all largely aimed at amassing more power for the federal agencies and extending their control over the populace. Starting with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, continuing with the torture of detainees at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay, and coming to a head with the assassination of American citizens abroad, the importing of drones and other weapons of compliance, and the rise in domestic surveillance, we have witnessed the onslaught of a full-blown crisis in government.
Still Americans have gone along with these assaults on their freedoms unquestioningly.
Even with our freedoms in shambles, our country in debt, our so-called “justice” system weighted in favor of corporations and the police state, our government officials dancing to the tune of corporate oligarchs, and a growing intolerance on the part of the government for anyone who challenges the status quo, Americans have yet to say “enough is enough.”

“New information on the 2000 election, information now in the hands of top military officials in the US, conclusively proves that America’s government is in “free fall.””
In 2000, a criminal conspiracy overthrew the government of the United States through violence, threats of violence and massive fraud. In light of what many believe to be the upcoming collapse, world war, economic meltdown, climate sabotage, global pandemics and radiation threats, key evidence has been brought forward.

it is a shame that there is no honor anymore, it has become acceptable to be dishonest and use money to get around lines by using disabled people is the lowest of the low. if someone asked me to do the same thing they would be temporarily disabled and i would be in jail, this pisses me off the same as someone trying to hire me to fight their battles for them i just might hit them instead as much as i abhor violence.

Obama in Plunderland: Down the Corporate Rabbit Hole
by Norman Solomon
”The president’s new choices for Commerce secretary and FCC chair underscore how far down the rabbit hole his populist conceits have tumbled”
”To nominate Penny Pritzker for secretary of Commerce is to throw in the towel for any pretense of integrity that could pass a laugh test. Pritzker is “a longtime political supporter and heavyweight fundraiser,” the Chicago Tribune reported with notable understatement last week, adding: “She is on the board of Hyatt Hotels Corp., which was founded by her family and has had rocky relations with labor unions, and she could face questions about the failure of a bank partly owned by her family. With a personal fortune estimated at $1.85 billion, Pritzker is listed by Forbes magazine among the 300 wealthiest Americans.”
A more blunt assessment came from journalist Dennis Bernstein: “Her pioneering sub-prime operations, out of Superior Bank in Chicago, specifically targeted poor and working class people of color across the country. She ended up crashing Superior for a billion-dollar cost to taxpayers, and creating a personal tragedy for the 1,400 people who lost their savings when the bank failed.” Pritzker, whose family controls Hyatt Regency Hotels, has a vile anti-union record.”

By contrast, low-wage jobs — defined as those paying $7 to $13 an hour — had accounted for 58 percent of the job growth as of last summer, while they accounted for just 21 percent of the job losses during the downturn.
