therein lies the dilemma: I can make things change, or I can sit here talking about standing in public & let things stay the same.
Nobody’s talking about hurting people. In reply to - miketvsubs posted an update in the group A99: LMFAO where’s the exit?? If we’re talking about shaping an entire population’s opinion, then education is one feasible path. But education is far from instant.
If we’re talking about stripping someone of their power, then action must be taken immediately, before they get more of it. (They’ve already got a head start in that department.)
If we’re talking about stripping someone’s power AND educating the world, then action must be immediate, effective & novel enough to convince the people that it’s worth remembering. This doesn’t always have to be in the form of an illegal activity. I know a lot of people are reluctant to get their hands dirty. It just takes creativity & commitment. There are a million things that have never been done before & therefore can’t even be considered illegal. But it MUST produce a real effect.
Just like people have been saying all over these boards: people won’t stand up & fight until their own shit is fucked up. When their comfort & safety & SUVs are gone, they might finally stand up & make a change.
Same for the bank heads. They won’t stand up & fight until they’re given a reason to. And until you engage them, you can not defeat them.
The goal must be clear, & the plan must be critically designed to produce specific results. When anon’s latest press is merely that it exists, something has gone wrong. The world knows there are anonymous dissidents out there….it’s planet Earth. But when someone anonymously plants a script that causes disruption to a bank’s infrastructure, or denies commercial services to their partners & subsidiaries or customers, then suddenly they’re forced to take action. It might not be the takedown move, but this could open the door & leave them vulnerable to another (hopefully more effective) attack from another source or a different angle. I totally agree with most of what you said, but ”raising awareness” is a copout. If the IRA just sat around ”raising awareness”, they wouldn’t have the reputation they do now. They make commitments to action & follow through. they don’t stand around beating on buckets downtown. You want ”the enemy” to take notice, you disrupt their shit, plain & simple. Read Sun Tzu & see how many chapters are dedicated to educating people (who probably are already aware of the conditions & situations, anyway).
The fact is, people were educated. Over 20,00 hits to the video releases in a couple of days. Yet only 4 people had the heart to show up for this misguided thing. What does that tell you? It tells me there are over 20,000 had their hearts in the right place, but they also had plenty of excuses to not make a plan, commit to an action, or risk their OWN asses. I’m sure you realize this. It’s all anybody’s talking about today.
If your mission is good, the people will get educated & stand up too, WITHOUT the need for a leader. Set an example if you have to show people what’s up & how it works, but DO something. The education route will NEVER get an American pulled from a position of power in good time. It took 25 years for all the energy & climate bills to pass….what makes you want to keep Bernanke in charge of your finances for that long? Education is not the goal. Change is.In reply to - David DeGraw posted an update in the group A99: Back home from Liberty Park. People aren’t going to like a lot of what I have to say, but if we don’t criticize ourselves, what makes us any better than the corrupt ones in power?
It’s noble of the 4 people to show up in NYC. There were probably 12 people nationwide from what I gather. It’s a shame there weren’t more, but seriously — we should ask ourselves what would have been accomplished even if there were 12,000 nationwide…..120,00 maybe? It doesn’t matter. The technique of civil gathering to produce change is rendered completely futile in 21st century America. We have ”free speech zones” at rallies…..”protest permission forms” for fuck’s sake. A few hundred people attempt to disrupt the system by gathering at a fountain, & the cops make sure everything stays nice & civil by herding the protesters into an area that doesn’t restrict the flow of everyday life. It reduces the protestors to a nostalgia-inducing curiosity for political wannabes & politourists…..more like a petting zoo than a rebellion. (”Honey! Get a picture of Timmy in the drum circle!”) If you’re staying within the confines of the law to get your rebellion underway, it just ain’t civil disobedience. And if it isn’t civil disobedience, it might as well just be a reality show.
Update the forms of resistance & learn the skills you need to do it. Education is 100% free in America. Any strategist will tell you the reason guerrilla warriors are so successful is because they know how to adapt. Don’t get stuck in this ”raising awareness” shit. The goal isn’t to educate idiots & couch potatoes, it’s to bring about change. Learn a new skill & make a real move, and don’t worry about when people find out about it. If your method is good, they’ll find out soon enough on their own.

”raise awareness” ”together we can do it” ”information is power”…this is the same crap the Democratic Party sells to keep people out of power. Replace the Timothy Leary quotes with biblical fear, & it becomes what the Republican party sells to keep people out of power.
-outdated hippie crap
-no commitments made
-no plans planned
-no action takenThis document should be considered extremely embarrassing.

”Generations in the past spook of what we face as current issues…”
yeah, that doesn’t look right.
Also, telling people in 2011 that ”information is power” is a little redundant,
the whole ”together we can do it” thing was outdated in the 90’s,
as were Timothy Leary quotes.
Failure to inspire.
This isn’t the 60’s. Public protest is rendered absolutely meaningless by the fact that it takes place in public while the rest of the world operates on the internets.
The people know what’s right & what’s wrong. What they need is a good enough reason to personally risk & resist. This letter should be considered an embarrassment to anonymous. In reply to - · View -
