When will they ever learn?

Alison’s ”Why the apathy?” links and comments got my attention! Only the very fewest of us, activists, are not apathetic. Most of the rest are so preoccupied with making ends meet, there’s no time for anything else. I read somewhere that we’re the only rich country that doesn’t give workers paid vacations. So what do people otherwise do with their ”leisure” time? To see it on TV, they ride sand scooters and mini-water craft. We’re a nation of recreational whacked-outs; with legal prescription drugs and alcohol. As long as we’re talking about it, we don’t have to do anything about it. Thank MSNBC for airing our grievances. And as for the rest of TV we see a dumbing-down of the dumber and dumber class. I always say, nationalize the banks and ban usury. Shoot! We might be just as well off to nationalize TV and ban stupid programming. Within the 99%, so many are so well off that to them a revolution would be an inconvenience, and they would prefer for the .01% to continue on with conducting their status quo business as usual. The people who ride sand scooters and get their news from CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox, can look the other way to avoid seeing what the obstructionists are doing, aye, the un-doing of democracy in a way that the founding fathers intending to break from the oppression of King George III could never have imagined – a filibustered return to oppression? They can look the other way to hunger in this country and poverty, inadequate health care and housing, and the .01% cheating our country out of a place among nations by depriving our people, young and old, a good, free, and relevant education. Where are the history lessons? Where is science and math? Where is tool and die making? Where is engineering… to paraphrase Peter, Paul and Mary, ”Gone to Wall Street, every one … When will they ever learn?”

The country, ”the government” of We the People and the 99% v .01% as a movement lack leadership. Anyone who emerges to a position of influence winds up dead. As for a leaderless revolution, the only place on earth where that is a wall-to-wall reality is in Iran. The Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (IRGC) runs everything but the only person whose name we hear is that of Supreme Leader Ayatollah (Sayyid or Seyed) Ali Hosseini Khamenei, a mere puppet of the IRGC who has approved a slate of hand-picked presidential candidates to replace Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the next election. Our situation is no better, no worse. Indeed, we face the same fascistic creep into our lives as Iran. As I have explained elsewhere, a popular revolution as we have seen in Venezuela, requires the participation of a tipping-point majority, not necessarily in democratic numbers counted – more at a dynamic. Both our sitting legitimately elected government, obstructed like obstruction has never been played in the history of our democracy, and our ”revolutionary” movement canceled out by apathy leaves us where we’re at.

The United States of America has been ultimately over-reaching it’s filthy, greedy, witless and stunningly shortsighted tentacles all over the globe by ANY MEANS NECESSARY, usually by way of UNENDING QUAGMIRES in the most UNSTABLE parts of the world for total extraction (STEALING) of any resource possible in order to satiate America’s insatiable appetite for so-called GREATNESS. Well, Oscar Wilde wrote, ”Patriotism is a Virtue of the Vicious.” And Winston Churchill said, ”The best argument AGAINST Democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.” They were both right.

The fact of the matter is that America, Land of the FREE, Land of OPPORTUNITY; What a JOKE. The FACT is that America ranks at the VERY BOTTOM of every imaginable demographic chart, Well below every other ”developed” country in the world.
