Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, interviews David DeGraw about the birth and evolution of Occupy Wall Street on its one year anniversary: “This is about empowering a new generation to be leaders, to be engaged…. We have millions of people engaged in creating change that were not engaged and creating change a year ago…. Occupy globally is the big bang of humanity’s next phase of evolution. It created this wild new ecosystem of mass transformation. Millions of people turned on, let out of the propaganda cage. The first step is that you have to open the prison door so people can come flying out and realize that we can change things. You say another world is possible. Now, another world is happening.”

First of all I want to thank you for all you have done. I remember when you were pushing hard to make an occupation movement happen. I was one of the people who completely agreed with you but thought you were crazy for thinking it would ever happen. Well, holy shit, it happened! Another world IS happening.

Please keep speaking truth to power!

    Here’s to you brother:

I agree with occuppy wall street movement, but the movement to be ffective has to hit banks, where it hurts most, the pocket.
Banks and bankers in collusion with politicians, which they bankroll, will order dispersion of occupy the wall street movement participants in any country, by brutal force, if necessary.
If we the ordinary people use our right to withdraw our monthly salaries from the banks and pay our obligation in cash and if we are sufficiently large in numbers, this will shake banks and if we do that for a few month, the banks will notice and we will come to negotiating table with leverage and demand reasonable charges and impose onto banks that they share in the risk of investors. As it is now, banks win never mind what, they win when you win and they win when you lose. Often the services provided by bankmen are nothing else than paraphrasing analyses from the people who make living out of it. Remember we hear about banks risks only when they risk and lose our money when they play the markets with it without our knowledge or consent.
So go and take cash every month and ask friends to do the same. The movement will use legal means to shake the system.

What government? There is no government. The entire political system is owned and controlled by capital.

The government does not create money. The treasury only prints, when they print at all, at the behest of the federal reserve. The federal reserve creates money, for profit, which the government must borrow, at interest, to get it into circulation.

Most money is loaned into circulation by banks and it is created on a computer screen when the loan is made. It never even exists physically. It is imaginary money. And only the principal is “created”. No money is ever produced to service the interest. The entire banking system is based upon usury.

For-profit economies, no matter what ism is applied, inevitably promote plutocracy. The more unrestrained such a system, the faster that condition is attained.

Cenk misses the point. The Occupy movement is about generating mass awareness, not organising to effect specific political change.
